Ammon News - Ammon -A breakdown in Jordan’s internet network has resulted in disruptions, as well as delays, of Royal Jordanian flights to all European and U.S. destinations.
Executive Assistant Director General for Information and Communication Basil Kilani said an outage in the Jordan Telecom Company and mobile operator Orange internet service since 10pm local time on Sunday has delayed flights to Chicago, Larnaca, Frankfurt, Berlin, Vienna, Paris, Tel Aviv, Istanbul, Tunisia, Maastricht and Algeria.
Kilani, who is also the company's spokesman, said planes remain grounded at the airport while waiting for a solution to this technical glitch.
The delay, he added, which is out of the company's control, resulted in Royal Jordanian’s Operation Control Center not being able to contact European and US flight control centers in advance to inform them via e-mail about flight routes.
"Efforts are underway to restore internet service as soon as possible," the RJ official said, noting that the company is launching new channels to contact EU and U.S. authorities to assist delayed flights in taking off.
