Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) – Jordan is going through a historic period and needs skilled, energetic and experienced journalists, State Minister for Media Affairs, Minister of Parliamentary and Political Affairs Mohammad Moumani said on Saturday.
In remarks made at the opening of a training course on the role of broadcasters in building and formulating public opinion, organised by the Jordan Broadcasters Association, Moumani pointed to "the vast" press freedoms in Jordan that enable journalists to tackle all issues directly affecting citizens' needs and grievances.
"A news anchor's job is no longer restricted to the microphone or reading text, but it requires journalists of vast knowledge and high education to attract viewers and audiences," he said.
Furthermore, he added, a broadcaster has to have the ability to influence and interact with the public and remain attuned to citizens' demands and grievances, while respecting their thoughts and opinions.
