Premier meets with Hamas chief

Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Monday met with Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal and discussed with him latest developments in the Palestinian cause.

The prime minister stressed Jordan's supportive stance to the Palestinian people and their leadership to achieve their legitimate aspirations, particularly the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on Palestinian national soil with East Jerusalem its capital.

Ensour highlighted efforts exerted by Jordan to re-launch peace negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides to bring about the two-state solution in the framework of a comprehensive solution that ensures security and stability in the region.

The prime minister and Meshaal stressed the importance of achieving Palestinian national reconciliation and the need to support efforts in this regard to strengthen the unity of the Palestinian people and the restore their legitimate rights.

Meshaal expressed his thanks and appreciation to Jordan under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II in supporting the Palestinian people and their just cause at all international forums.
