Jordan discusses cooperation with UNDP

Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) - Jordan and the United Nations Development Program on Monday discussed cooperation in institutional capacity building and consolidating the principles of good governance.

Minister of Public Sector Development Khleif Khawaldeh met UNDP Country Director Zena Ali Ahmed and briefed her on the government's plans to develop the public sector and increase its effectiveness and efficiency to serve national goals.

In a statement issued Monday, Khawaldeh said that the government is enhancing the role of monitoring and audit agencies to increase their effectiveness and promote the principles of transparency in the public sector.

The minister presented a briefing on the administrative reform carried out by Jordan as part of the comprehensive reform process. The government, he said, took into account many issues of concern to citizens when preparing its development programs and projects.

For her part, the UNDP official said the program was keen to provide Jordan with the needed expertise and support to enhance the national integrity system and consolidate the principles and practices of good governance.

She expressed the program's readiness to back efforts of the Ministry of Public Sector Development to launch the "Government Leaders Forum" and strengthen the role of the "Institute of Public Administration", pointing the importance of programs carried out by the ministry to develop the public sector.
