Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Independent Elections Commission (IEC) on Thursday announced the final numbers on Wednesday's Jordanian parliamentary elections, citing that 1,288,043 out of total of 2,272,182 registered voters cast their ballots on Wednesday.
The final voter turnout reached 56.6875 percent of the total number of registered voters.
The capital Amman's second district registered the lowest voter turnout, reported at 37.5267 percent, while Karak's sixth district registered the highest voter turnout, reaching 89.90 percent of registered voters.
28.94 of male registered voters cast their ballots yesterday, while 27.75 of female registered voters turned out to vote.
1,425 candidates, including 191 women, representing the various political spectra, are vying for seats in the Kingdom's 150-strong legislature.
27 seats are allocated for candidates running on nation-wide lists and 15 seats for women's quota.
More than 7,000 local, Arab and international observers representing the EU and NGOs monitored the polls.
