Police intervene to disperse voter clashes in Salt, Amman

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Gendarmerie and security forces intervened to disperse crowds that clashed in Ein al-Basha district, north of Amman.

Supporters of two local candidates clashed over gearing voters to vote for their candidates.

Meanwhile, Gendamerie forces also intervened in Yarqa district in Balqaa governorate, northwest of Amman, after angry voters crowded and were upset at what they considered to be the slow process of handling voter turnout, a security source told Ammon News.

Also on Wednesday, clashes erupted on Wednesday afternoon between supporters of two candidates running in the fourth constituency in the capital Amman.

Supporters of two candidates from two different tribes vying for the seat allocated for Amman's 4th district exchanged gunshots and vandalized private vehicles parked on the side of the road, Ammon News correspondents on the ground reported.

Meanwhile, Security and Gendarmerie forces intervened to disperse crowds that had clashed with each other in Naour district, south of Amman.

Security forces fired tear gas and live gunshots in the air to disperse the crowds.
