AMMAN (Petra)--Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Wednesday met with directors and program presenters of satellite channels licensed by the Audio-visual Commission to discuss a number of issues related to the media.

Ensour said the meeting is part of the government's approach of openness to the media to review various issues of concern to Jordan.

These meetings, he said, reflect the importance the government attaches to the media's role in shaping public opinion on national issues.

On the upcoming parliamentary elections, the prime minister said the government will help the Independent Elections Commission to fight political money and vote-buying, vowing that the polls will be fair and transparent.

"The parliament and the next government should work from the first moment to ensure the separation of powers as the Lower House is concerned with legislation and laws and does not interfere in the government's work," he added.

The prime minister stressed that the state's prestige is reflected in its ability to take fair and sound decisions and implement them in a competent manner.
