AMMONNEWS - The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) announced a moderate state of emergency in the capital Amman to deal with the severe weather conditions affecting the kingdom.
Head of GAM Committee Abdul Halim Kilani announced that 60 field teams were deployed throughout the capital Amman along with apparatus machines and equipment to ensure the safety of main streets for traffic.
Meanwhile, GAM Media Center director Nidal Khreisha noted that GAM cadres received numerous complains from residents related to unexpected heavy rainfall, including re-opening of Al-Waha circle tunnel by Wasfi al-Tal Street after it was drenched by high levels of rainfall.
GAM cadres used pumps to drain the water from the tunnel and re-opened the manholes and water drainage system in the area to absorb the high levels of water.
Heavy rainfall affected the capital Amman since Sunday, causing an increase in water levels in some streets and a delay in its drainage.
Khreisha said that all streets in Amman are currently open, noting that the delays in water drainage was caused by the unexpected heavy rainfall.
