Ammon News - Marrakesh, (Petra) Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh said Jordan will support any Arab and international decision to end the Syrian crisis peacefully, particularly the efforts of UN-Arab League envoy Lakhdar Brahimi.
The minister made the remarks at the fourth Friends of Syria meeting in the Moroccan city of Marrakesh, where he joined his counterparts from more than 104 countries.
In an address to the meeting, Judeh reiterated Jordan's position calling for an immediate halt to the bloodshed in Syria and finding a political solution that paves the way for a transition to restore stability and security and preserve the country's unity and territorial integrity and the dignity of its people.
Such a transition, he said, should involve all components of Syrian people and meet their aspirations for freedom, democracy and political participation.
He also spoke about the humanitarian repercussions of the Syrian crisis, noting that Jordan is hosting more than a quarter of a million Syrian refugees who had sought a safe haven that the Kingdom provided to them. He said the displaced people posed a burden on Jordan, calling for continued international aid to help the Kingdom to carry out it task toward them.
A statement issued by the meeting hailed the steadfastness of the Syrian people and determination to fulfill their aspirations despite the bloodshed and violence they had encountered.
