The 80-year old woman was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead upon arrival, Civil Defense Department (CDD) press office said. CDD cadres contained the fire that erupted in one room in the woman's house and prevented it from extending to the rest of the house. Authorities opened an investigation to look into the cause of the fire.

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - An elderly woman died on Sunday of asphyxiation after a fire erupted in her home in Dahiyat al-Amir Hassan in Amman.

The 80-year old woman was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead upon arrival, Civil Defense Department (CDD) press office said.

CDD cadres contained the fire that erupted in one room in the woman's house and prevented it from extending to the rest of the house.

Authorities opened an investigation to look into the cause of the fire.
