PM: US grant to prop up state's treasury

Ammon News - AMMAN (Petra) Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Sunday said the $184-million grant which the US sent to Jordan on Thursday will help in providing direct cash support to the state's treasury.

Ensour said, in a statement to Petra, that the grant is part of a $360-million annual US assistance to Jordan, adding that the remainder of the aid package is allocated to various development-oriented projects.

The prime minister stressed the importance of these grants in supporting the budget, promoting development programs, improving the quality of life of citizens and expanding economic opportunities.

He thanked the US government and people for their continued support to Jordan, stressing that the assistance reflects the strategic relationship between the two countries.
