Jerash Festival to kick off July 4

06-03-2012 12:00 AM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Higher Organizing Committee of Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts has set July 4 as the opening day for this year's edition.

The Festival's activities will run until August 14, according to chairman of the committee Fayez Tarawneh. This year's edition, he added, will witness a qualitative stride in more than one domain. The festival will include artistic, cultural and poetry performance and sessions, Tarawneh said.

The festival will take place in the ancient city of Jerash, while some cultural activities will take place at the Royal Cultural Center in Amman during the holy month of Ramadan.

The Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts was launched in 1981 to promote Jordanian, Arab and international cultural and artistic interaction at one of Jordan's most important archaeological sites.

The annual international festival provides a vibrant venue for Arab and international performing artists, and serves as a dynamic catalyst for the promotion of Jordanian and Arab culture and arts.
