Update : Journalists Protest Attack on Al Ghad Newspaper Video'

AMMONNEWS - Dozens of Jordanian journalists, activists, and Members of Parliament staged a sit-in in front of the Jordan Press Association (JPA) on Saturday in protest of attacks on the Al Ghad newspaper’s staff.

JPA President Tareq Momani denounced attacks and threats against press, and he called on security agencies to shoulder their responsibilities.

The minister of the state for media and communications, Rakan Majali who took part of the protest condemned such attacks and stressed that the government will take all measurements to protect journalists.

On Friday Dozens of journalists and activists demonstrated on Friday in front of the Al Ghad daily newspaper headquarter in Amman denouncing the attacks on the newspaper’s staff.

They expressed solidarity with al Ghad and its employees condemning the threats that were received following a report al Ghad published on the an illegal departure of a ship from Aqaba port without taking clearance from or contacting concerned authorities.

A group of 'unknown' individuals on Friday morning stormed into Al Ghad's headquarters in Amman and attacked one of its distributors, broke his leg and inflected severe injuries.

Meanwhile the Lower House of Parliament denounced any assault on press freedoms and stressed that all means should be made available for journalists to carry out their job without hindrance.
