Ammon News - AMMONNEWS – Jordan basketball team made history on Saturday and qualified for the first time for the final of the 26th FIBA Asia championship in Wuhan, China after beating the Philippines.
The national team defeated Smart Gilas Pilipinas, 75-61, in their semifinals crash and avenged their second round defeat.
Inspired by their stunning victory over back-to-back Iranian champions, Jordanian players outplayed Smart Gilas and put a painful end to the latter six-victory run in the championship.
A barrage of 3-pointers and faster pace in the last minutes made the Philipinos unable to keep up with the national team to end the game 75-61.
Rasheim Wright, Sam Daghles and Zaid Abbaas scored 24, 16, and 14 each for Jordan.
Jordan will meet in the finals either China or South Korea.
