Conclusion of Written Assessment Phase for 2011 Distinguished Principal and Teacher Awards

25-09-2011 12:00 AM

Ammon News - 92 teachers and 23 principals qualify for the field assessment phase

AMMONNEWS - The Association of Queen Rania Al Abdullah Award for Excellence in Education concluded the written assessment phase for the 2011 Queen Rania Al Abdullah Award for Distinguished Teacher in its 6th cycle and the 2011 Queen Rania Al Abdullah Award for Distinguished Principal in its 2nd cycle.

A total of 92 distinguished teachers from 27 directorates and 23 distinguished principals from 16 directorates qualified for the field assessment phase.

“The written assessment phase has brought forth a new batch of distinguished educators who have demonstrated success in their field. The Association will be highlighting their achievements and showcasing them as models of excellence. “We eagerly anticipate the commencement of the upcoming field assessment phase, and we are confident that our assessors’ visits to the schools will highlight many more success stories that will positively impact the students and their communities”, said Lubna Touqan, the Association’s Executive Director.

During the field assessment phase, the Association’s assessors will conduct field visits to schools and classrooms to observe teachers and principals who achieved the highest written assessment scores. The assessors will also review qualifying candidates’ overall teaching environment, daily activities and interactions with students and the community. The field assessment phase for both the Distinguished Teacher and Principal Awards is scheduled to commence on 28 September, 2011, until 20 October, 2011.

What distinguishes this year’s results from previous years is that several candidates from the same school have qualified for the award. This has been the case for directorates such as Amman 4, Zarka 2, Al Shouneh Al Janoubeyeh, Irbid 1, Bani Kinana and Bsera. One principal and one teacher from the same school in Ramtha qualified for the field visits, whilst two teachers who had previously won during 2006 and 2007, qualified once more in 2011. Two teachers from a school that yielded a previous winner also qualified this year, affirming the key role of distinguished teachers in disseminating a culture of excellence, and highlighting their invaluable role as award ambassadors in the field.

The following tables feature the names of the qualifying candidates for both awards:
