Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Royal Jordanian RJ has rescheduled flights to New York due for Saturday and Sunday because of Hurricane Irene which struck the eastern coast of the United States, disrupting air traffic and forcing the closure of John F. Kennedy Airport, the destination for five weekly RJ flights.
RJ media spokesman Basel Kilani said the national carrier was forced to put off two flights on Saturday and Sunday to JFK Airport, which was shut down by gusty winds and torrential downpours.
He said Saturday's scheduled flight would take off at 11 A.M. Monday if the airport were opened, while Sunday's flight would depart at 8 P.M. the same day.
Kilani said the rescheduling depends on the weather improving that could prompt the opening of the airport, stressing the flag carrier was concerned about the safety of its passengers and planes.
He urged passengers to call RJ offices for any queries or travel updates.
