Jeeran Tops Jordan30 List

12-06-2011 12:00 AM

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jeeran, one of the largest websites in the Arab world, topped the Jordan Fast Growth 30; a project of the AllWorld Network that highlights the fastest growing private businesses in Jordan. Jeeran has over 6 million viewers per month, and is responsible for hosting 650,000 active websites and 120,000 active blogs. Jeeran had a three-year growth rate of 300%.

The Jordan30 project brings to life Jordan's knowledge economy with strengths in software, gaming, web communities, e-commerce, animation, telecom, health and education. The Jordan30 project is the youngest of AllWorld Network's eight country rankings, with most companies being younger than three years.

Omar Koudsi, CEO of Jeeran Said: "Our remarkable growth and sustainability rates are reflected from the success of our local approach when entering new markets. We make sure that we hire the finest and most sophisticated locals in various cities to lead and build their local communities."

AllWorld co-founders Deirdre Coyle and Anne Habiby stated that "the power of the Jordan30 project is in the company’s success. Each company that succeeds will have all of Jordan’s share in that success. The Jordan30 are engines of positive energy that send a signal to the next generation of entrepreneurs, who may now only be teenagers, that they too can succeed and play an important role in the future."

Jeeran’s vision is to make the web relevant to the Arab world by empowering people and giving them the tools to generate their own local content.

The year 2010 marked the next phase for Jeeran’s evolution through the launch of its new concept. Jeeran’s new proposition empowers Arab users to rate, review, discuss and discover places and services in their city.

The new concept of Jeeran is built on the knowledge that more and more users can base their purchase decisions on reviews and recommendations from other people ‐ friends and family that have experienced these places or services in different cities in the Arab World Turning to trusted sources is not a new concept, but the social web has enabled people to refer to entire communities and networks.

Jeeran Amman, one of Jeeran’s cities, was launched in July 2010, and within a short period showed a striking impact through a surge in traffic, community members, adoption and engagement by those living in the city.

By April 2011 the same localized service was launched in six more cities throughout the region including Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam and Khobar in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

The Jordan30 are part of the Arabia Fast Growth 500 that will be announced November 15-17 at the Arabia 500 Awards & Global Summit. Jordan will host the first Arabia 500 Summit, held under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah. This will be the largest convening of growth entrepreneurs ever held outside of the United States.

As AllWorld Entrepreneurs, the Jordan30 will have the opportunity to network with other AllWorld winners from the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
