Stanley Baird is an acclaimed musician, composer and entertainer, who has shared the stage with famous singers Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle. He has taught music at the university level and established the Stanley Baird Youth Jazz Foundation to teach jazz to young students.
In 1991, Mr. Baird formed The Stanley Baird Group, which has released six albums. The Stanley Baird Group is currently on a world tour that includes Spain, Italy, Turkey and Jordan.
Jazz is a musical tradition that began in African American communities in the southern United States in the early 20th century, and incorporated European and West African traditions. Over the last few decades, jazz has also become an element in some Arabic music, as can be heard in songs composed by Ziad Rahbani.
