29-10-2025 02:04 PM

Ammon News - The Austrian Embassy in Amman held a reception to celebrate Austria’s National Day, attended by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nancy Namrouqa, members of the diplomatic corps, and Austria’s partners and friends.

This year’s celebration carried special significance, marking the 70th anniversary of the Austrian State Treaty (1955–2025), the historic agreement that restored Austria’s sovereignty after World War II and laid the foundations for its permanent neutrality and enduring commitment to peace, democracy, and European unity.

On the sidelines of the event, the embassy organized a photo exhibition titled "70 Years of the Austrian State Treaty (1955–2025)," showcasing Austria’s journey from post-war reconstruction to its role as a bridge between nations.

Austrian Ambassador Marieke Zimburg praised the deep ties between Austria and Jordan, reaffirming both countries’ shared commitment to peace and humanitarian values.

She also expressed Austria’s solidarity with the Palestinian people and residents of Gaza and the region, saying that Austria has provided nearly €80 million to Gaza and the region over the past two years, and an additional €1 million is on the way to the UNHCR in Jordan.

"Together with Jordan, we call for a just peace based on respect for international law and humanitarian principles, and for safe coexistence between two independent states, Israel and Palestine," she added.

The ambassador commended Jordan’s continuous efforts and moral role in promoting peace and stability.

The evening concluded with traditional Austrian cuisine and music in a festive atmosphere reflecting the depth of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
