Ammon News - Golden Globe winner Kiefer Sutherland has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a taxi driver.
The 59-year-old actor is said to have attacked and "made criminal threats toward" the motorist in Los Angeles on Monday morning. Police attended reports of an assault on a person, thought to have been working as a ride-hail taxi driver for a well-known app, in the Hollywood Hills area of the city at just after midnight.
A man who had entered the cab there was arrested at the scene and police reports now confirm this was Sutherland, known for portraying Jack Bauer in drama 24 between 2001 and 2010, and as a cameo in 2014.
The Los Angeles Police Department said the man was arrested on suspicion of criminal threats, and has since been released from jail on a $50,000 (£37,000) bond.
Sutherland's first court appearance is scheduled for Monday February 2, according to jail records. Documents published by the authorities also state the taxi driver did not sustain any injuries which required medical treatment at the time. It is also unclear what led to the alleged altercation after the actor got in the cab near Hollywood Hills, an affluent neighbourhood home to many celebrities.
