Cristiano Ronaldo 'set to abandon his dream retirement villa project'

14-01-2026 11:15 AM

Ammon News - Cristiano Ronaldo could abandon his dream retirement villa after spending around £30million on it, according to reports.

The 40-year-old purchased a large plot of land in the Quinta da Marinha region of Cascais, Portugal, in September 2022 in a move thought to be with the aim of settling down in the villa with his family when he hangs up his boots.

Despite works now being completed to the eight-bedroom mansion, which boasts an infinity pool, underground car park and private cinema room, it has been said that Ronaldo may surprisingly now sell up.

According to Portuguese TV programme V+ Fama, Ronaldo could host his wedding to Georgina Rodriguez at the property - in what would be another shock twist - before offloading it.

It is claimed that Ronaldo is concerned over the lack of privacy afforded to him at the property constructed in the exclusive coastal resort known as the 'Portuguese Riviera'.

The Al-Nassr forward is said to have sought a purchase of the adjacent plot of land belonging to five-star hotel The Oitavos in a bid to increase his security, as well as the gold course next door, but these were refused.

This has now reportedly led to him looking to abandon the four-year project. However, it could still host his wedding to fiancée Georgina, who he proposed to in August after more than nine years together.

It was thought that Ronaldo may look to tie the knot with the Argentinian-Spanish model after the 2026 World Cup in Funchal Cathedral, with their reception to be hosted at a lavish nearby hotel.

But V+ Fama claim the £30million home could be used as a more intimate and private venue for the pair to conduct the ceremony.

Should Ronaldo give it the green light, the party could serve as a wedding event, a housewarming, and a farewell party all at the same time.
