15-09-2025 03:31 PM

Ammon News - A delegation from the Senate, headed by Chairperson of the Senate Administrative Committee Senator Tawfiq Krishan and including Senators Amer Hadidi and Ghazi Sarhan, participated in the meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly’s Economic and Sustainable Development Committee.

The meeting, which opened Monday in the Kingdom of Bahrain with the participation of parliamentary delegations from more than 15 Asian countries, seeks to bolster regional cooperation in economic and development sectors and advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The agenda included key topics such as establishing an integrated Asian energy market, tackling environmental challenges, fostering sustainable economic growth, and exchanging expertise in water, sanitation, and climate-finance initiatives.

Participants underscored the importance of strengthening the role of Asian parliaments in supporting development efforts and advancing legislation and policies that contribute to comprehensive and sustainable growth.

Senator Krishan underscored Jordan’s unwavering position under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II on the Palestinian cause and the ongoing developments in the Gaza Strip, stressing that regional and global stability cannot be achieved while the Palestinian people continue to face injustice.

He also underlined Jordan’s support for the State of Qatar, recalling His Majesty the King’s statement that "the security of Qatar and the Gulf states is part of Jordan’s security."

Participating delegations commended the level of cooperation among Asian Parliamentary Assembly member states and emphasized the importance of such meetings in strengthening regional dialogue and exchanging expertise for the benefit of the peoples of the Asian continent.
