11-08-2025 01:25 PM

Ammon News - Chairman of Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC), Captain Haitham Misto, revealed that six commercial aircraft were diverted on Sunday from landing at Queen Alia International Airport to King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba and Amman Civil Airport in Marka due to dusty weather conditions.

Misto, according to Al-Mamlaka explained that the severe dust conditions prevented six aircraft from landing at Queen Alia Airport, as horizontal visibility was below 300 meters, the minimum permitted for landing.

If visibility changes, these aircraft will return to landing at Queen Alia Airport, Misto said.

Additionally, Misto emphasized that the impact of these changes on landing times and locations is limited and expected.

Misto also stated that five aircraft diverted to King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba and one to Amman Civil Airport in Marka.

A searing heatwave will continue to grip the Kingdom through Thursday, with forecasters warning of sweltering conditions, dusty skies, and the possibility of sudden downpours in some areas.
