Ammon News - The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply said Wednesday it was capping the prices of some vegetables after complaints of an "unwarranted" price hike in the local market.

Accordingly, the ministry decided to set price ceilings for tomatoes, cucumbers, squash and potatoes at 60 piasters per kilo and 50 piasters per kilo for eggplant, with immediate effect.

The ministry said that the price tags will be reconsidered depending on supply and demand conditions, urging consumers to come forward and report any price gouging or violations to the set ceilings.
