Border guards bust major smuggling attempt

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Border Guards, early Sunday, thwarted an attempt to smuggle in a large amount of narcotics through a vehicle coming from Syria, an official source at the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army said in a statement. The troops engaged and destroyed the vehicle whose occupants ran back to inside Syrian territory. A total of 3,991 palm-sized sheets of hashish (722 kilograms) and 3.5 million narcotic pills (667 kilograms) were seized in the bust.

The army said it will not tolerate any attempt to tamper with the Kingdom's national security.
