Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, said the Prime Minister, Omar Razzaz, has issued Defense Order No. (16) 2020 on Thursday to impose strict penalites on violators of anti-Covid-19 health measures.

Speaking during a press briefing held at the Prime Ministry, Adaileh said the new defense order completes the government's measures aimed to preserve the citizens' health and safety, and seeks to prevent relevant violations that caused higher infectivity rate and triggered a surge in the Covid-19 cases during the past days.

As per Defense Order No. 16, wedding parties, mournings, and social gatherings of all kinds exceeding twenty people are banned, according to Adaileh.

In case legal gatherings are held, he said attendees are requested to adhere to social distancing rules, wear face masks, and avoid handshaking, or the penalties stipulated in Defense Order No. (11) 2020 will be imposed accordingly.

The new order also obligates persons, who are spending home quarantine to adhere to the measures and procedures imposed by the official authorities, including wearing the e-bracelet, using the relevant e-application, and adhering to the instructions issued by the competent authorities, according to the minister.
Moreover, establishments are also obligated not to allow any gathering for a number of people in excess of the permissible number, he noted.

Defense Order No. (16) imposes penalties on whoever holds a flouting gathering , including imprisonment for a period ranging from three months to a year, or a fine not less than JD1,000 and not exceeding JD3,000, or both penalties together, he announced.

The facility's owner, who violates the new order, will be fined no less than JD500, and his establishment will be shut down for a 14-day period, according to Adaileh.
