AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Tuesday called on all public stakeholders to ramp up their preparations for the winter season and said closer cooperation and coordination is needed to address any sudden-onset weather events.

Over the past few years, the Kingdom has seen some sudden weather conditions that left major damage, the prime minister indicated while chairing a meeting of the Higher Civil Defense Council, which aimed at discussing preparations for the wet season.

Razzaz underlined the need to come up with a concrete program to prepare for the winter season and ensure it is communicated to all ministries and state agencies.

Emphasizing the importance of drawing on past experiences, the prime minister said: "We are a state of institutions that learn from experiences, correct mistakes and constantly uplift performance."

The premier referred to His Majesty the King's directives to the government to work as one team and bring all agencies and teams under one umbrella. Razzaz stressed the importance to prepare for abrupt climate changes, whether flashfloods or floods or landslides, and make full use of all available weather forecasts.

"In the event of any risks, we must give them full attention and communicate the information through various media outlets to citizens and business owners to prepare as required," the prime minister emphasized, calling for field training and the formulation of an action plan to respond to any scenario.

Razzaz also pointed to cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, municipalities and the Greater Amman Municipality during the difficult weather conditions in recent years in terms of machinery and equipment, underscoring the importance of having a unified database to dispatch these machinery and equipment to places and areas that need them.
