18 new imported Covid-19 cases recorded in Jordan on Sunday

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Ministry of Health said 18 new Covid-19 infections were recorded in the Kingdom on Sunday, all imported, bringing the total caseload since the start of the pandemic to 1033.

Of the new 18 infections, 17 cases belong to Jordanians arriving from abroad, who are currently staying at quarantine hotels (16 from Egypt and 1 from Saudi Arabia), and 1 case to a Jordanian truck driver arriving to the Al Omari Border Crossing, according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.

Moreover, 17 patients have left Prince Hamzah Hospital, added the joint statement.

On the nationwide testing operations, 5714 laboratory tests were conducted today, bringing the total number conducted since the outbreak of the pandemic to 330, 869 tests, announced the statement.

Meanwhile, the first repatriation stage for Jordanians stranded in neighboring countries (by land and sea) is still continuing, and the number of Jordanian returnees until Sunday will reach 1230, from Saudi Arabia, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Palestine, Iraq, and Israel, according to the government statement.

In this context, the gradual repatriation has started on Sunday morning of Jordanians stranded in Palestine and Israel, via King Hussein Bridge, and the number of returnees under the first operation reached 172 Jordanians, announced the statement.

The Covid-19 crisis cell, the statement said, is currently working on making the necessary arrangements to repatriate the 2nd batch, and the date will be announced later.
