Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Around 5,000 people quarantined at hotel facilities in the capital Amman and the Dead Sea region will be discharged on Monday following a two-week quarantine the government put in place to curb the COVID-19 outbreak.

State Minister for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, told reporters on Sunday that those people, who arrived from abroad two weeks ago, will be demanded to start home quarantine, adding that the concerned authorities will remain in touch with them in the coming period.

Speaking on paper-based mobility permits, the minister said the permits will be digitized in coordination with the security agencies and other competent bodies to ensure no one violates the current curfew in place throughout the Kingdom, noting that the new mobility permission mechanism will be announced this week.

Adaileh, who is also government spokesperson, indicated that the Central Bank of Jordan will announce later in the day a new arrangement for how banks and exchange companies will provide their services to the public.

The minister denied reports that any COVID-19 case has been recorded in the southern governorate of Tafileh. Commenting on reports that there are plans to isolate new regions of the Kingdom, in addition to Irbid, Adaileh said no decisions have been taken by the concerned authorities in this regard.

He pointed out that the Ministry of Health has strengthened the numbers of epidemiological investigation teams, with the aim of expanding testing and tracking contacts of those infected, noting that His Majesty the King is spearheading efforts to ensure the speedy availability of more than 100,000 testing kits.
