AMMONNEWS - The Lower House held its first meeting of the fourth ordinary session on Sunday, inaugurated by His Majesty King Abdullah II, under the chairmanship of its Speaker Atef Tarawneh, and in presence of Prime Minister Omar Razzaz.

Tarawneh congratulated the King and Crown Prince on the occasion of the Prophet's birthday.

He said: "Today, we have the honor to listen to the speech of the Throne, where His Majesty directed us to commit to an annual path of plans, and programs, which has instilled the concept of the flexible national program to address challenges".

On the Baqoura and Ghumar lands, he lauded the decision of not renewing the lease of these areas, which reflects the perquisites of "fair" peace.

He also deemed restoring the Baqoura and Ghumar lands as a victory over challenges, pressures, and the region's circumstances.

He stressed the need to support His Majesty's to set plans in the context of the Parliament's legislative role by endorsing the general budget law aimed at addressing public sector salary discrepancies, backing the education and healthcare sectors, and tackling the tax distortions that contributed to the decline in economic development of the active sectors.

Tarawneh stressed the need to engage in a national effort to restore confidence in the constitutional institutions, in a bid to support the underprivileged segments and create jobs for youth.

On the Palestinian cause, he highlighted the House's unwavering stance on supporting the Palestinian rights, voicing support to the King's efforts to reach a fair solution and establish a Palestinian state on the 4th June 1967 borders.

On terrorism, he stressed the House's stance on efforts in the fight against terrorism, which it considers "an international threat," adding "cowardly terror acts are carried out under the umbrella of religion".
