Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan will receive further Macro-Financial Assistance (MFA) from the European Union (EU) worth 200 million euros, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Imad Fakhoury, announced Monday.

Fakhoury said the loan comes as part of commitments made by the EU during the Supporting Syria and the Region conference held in London in February 2016.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Finance, Omar Malhas and the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) Governor Ziad Fariz and Pierre Moscovici, Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs, on behalf of the EU.

Fakhoury added that the amount of financial assistance will be transferred to the treasury in two installments, the first of 100 million euros will be disbursed before the end of 2017, while the second payment of 100 million euros will be disbursed in 2018.

The aid will cover the funding gap by providing direct treasury support within the EU Macro-Financial Assistance (MFA), the minister noted.
