Pilot killed in F-16 crash laid to rest

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The body of Royal Air Force pilot Ayed Daajah was laid to rest Tuesday, a day after his F-16 fighter jet crashed while attempting to take off during a training mission.

The deceased pilot was accorded full military honours as his body, draped with the Jordanian flag, was carried on the shoulders of comrades-in-arms and buried at the family cemetery in the Amman neighbourhood of Tabarbour after midday prayers. The mourners laid wreaths at the grave.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mahmoud Freihat, HRH Prince Faisal Ibn al Hussein, the Royal Air Force Commander, heads of security agencies and senior General Command officers as well as civic and military officials joined the family of the pilot and local citizens at the funeral.

The army chief, in the presence of Prince Faisal, presented the national flag to the pilot's brother, and the family expressed their deep appreciation for the armed forces command's gesture and their pride in their son, who fell as martyr in the line of duty, pledging allegiance to the Hashemite leadership.

The Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army also mourned its martyr.
