PM : Citizens have right to receive correct information

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Hani Mulki, on Sunday, said Jordan Television, as a leading national institution, has an important role in conveying a true and bright image of the nation and interacting with the issues of citizens, who have the right in receiving correct information that serve the public interest.

During a visit to the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation (JRTVC), where he met with its board members in the presence of Minister of State for Media Affairs and the government spokesman, Mohammad Al Momani, the prime minister said a number of the Jordanian TV's policies that should improve its performance have been under review, through interacting with issues of concern to citizens, stressing the importance of maximizing dialogue and strengthening awareness on various issues by quality programs the JRTV has to offer.

During the meeting, Mulki added that media representatives should be in the field, meet with citizens in governorates, directly interact with them and focus on their concerns and issues, calling on focusing on the various segments of society and providing news and programs in a professional manner.

JRTVC board chairman, George Hawatmeh, briefed the prime minister on technical and financial challenges the JRTVC is facing, pointing out to the corporation's recent achievements and its executive plan to improve its work quality.

Hawatmeh emphasized the importance of the government's support for the JRTVC, as part of its support for sate media institutions, noting that the JRTVC will continue developing its performance through a combination of quality programs that will soon see the light.

He called on the government to review the JRTVC's budget and its organizational structure.
