Online hate speech subject to prosecution

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Justice, Bassam Talhouni, said Tuesday that those misusing networking websites to incite or spread hate speech will be prosecuted.

He told Petra in an interview that those involved in such offense would be referred to specialized courts to take "deterrent legal action against them", particularly after a media gag order was issued by the State Security Court's prosecutor over the murder of a Jordanian writer.

The minister said some acts of hate incitement could amount to the crime of inciting terrorism, and will be dealt with according to the Anti-Terrorism Law, Penal Code and the Cyber Crime Law.
