Canadian government provides Gendarmerie with logistical equipment

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Gendarmerie Directorate on Tuesday received a set of logistical and technical equipment provided by the Canadian government.

Hailing the deeply-rooted Jordanian-Canadian ties, Gendarmerie Director Maj. Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh, thanked the government of Canada for making the equipment available which would contribute to promoting technical potentials of the apparatus.

"In order to enhance security service provided to people, the department pursues development through science, knowledge and building national and international partnerships", said Hawatmeh.

Highlighting the key role Jordan plays to maintain global peace and security, Canada's ambassador in Amman, Peter MacDougall, said that his country is committed to supporting Jordan in combating terrorism and extremism in the region and beyond.

He also commended efforts exerted by the security agency, besides its humanitarian role towards the Syrian refugees.
