Fakhoury said that the German grants, expected to be announced during the scheduled Jordanian-German negotiations in Berlin next month, will reach euro 300 million. The aids come as a result of the German commitments during the London donor conference. The minister noted that 100 nillion euro will be humanitarian aid to be distributed by international organizations and 200 million euro will be directed to support refugees host communities in the kingdom and to finance development priorities in water, education and energy sectors. According to the Jordan Compact, which was agreed during the London conference in February, $1 billion is needed to support the education sector over the next three years. During the meeting, Fakhoury commended the "historic" bilateral relations between Jordan and Germany, reflected by the additional grants supporting Jordan in shouldering the burdens of hosting the Syrian refugees, and urging the international community to support refugees hosting countries. He outlined the challenges that face Jordan as a result of the regional situation and discussed with the delegation the developments on the Jordan Compact, noting that Jordan has become a model country in turning the challenge of refugees into opportunities. Fakhoury expressed hope for more support from Germany through urging the international community to fulfill its commitments through Jordan Compact and encouraging the European private sector to invest in the kingdom especially in light of simplifying the rules of origin for Jordanian produce by the EU. The German delegation commended Jordan for the holistic reformation process and for its vital role in enhancing peace and stability in the region and in anti-terrorism efforts in spite of the limited resources.
