USAID mission director highlights importance of partnership with public, private sectors

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - USAID Mission Director in Amman Jim Barnhart stressed the importance of partnership with the government, the private sector as well as civil society institutions that work with the youth, namely education programs that seek to develop education from kindergarten until high school.

During a press conference on Thursday on the occasion of the World Youth Day that is marked on Friday, Barnhart spoke about the USAID's opportunities and programs for the youth, pointing to representatives from the government working on education, competitiveness and democracy as well as other programs that serve the youth.

"Over the past few years, we have built 28 schools and carried out maintenance work at 117 schools that serve 84,000 students. Now we have plans to build 24 new schools and carry out expansion and maintenance work at 120 schools," he added.

The USAID, he said is working with the Education Ministry to develop programs that aim at enhancing the quality of education, such as programs to train teachers of kindergarten as well as the first three classes.
