Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister, Hani Mulqi, discussed with a Turkish economic delegation future Turkish investments in Jordan, and said the Kingdom is willing to broaden ties with Ankara in economic and developmental fields.

Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Turkish Economy Ministry's Foreign Economic Relations Board, Muqli pointed to the gains the Turkish private sector would reap from the simplifying rules of origin agreement, which Jordan had signed with the European Union.

"The simplified rules of origin deal would encourage Turkish industries to invest in Jordan and export their products, particularly fertilizers, to European markets", said the premier. Mulqi urged the Turkish business community to take advantage of "this historic opportunity to achieve common interests", maintain Turkish industries in Jordan, and establish partnerships that would contribute to achieving sustainable development.

The prime minister also said he welcomed Turkey's use of the port of Aqaba for shipping Turkish goods, given the fact that the port's container terminal had been ranked by the United Nations as one of the best globally in terms of efficiency and prices.

The Turkish team stressed the importance of cooperation between the private sector in both countries, pointing to their country's huge investments abroad and the successes its industrial, trade and tourism sectors had made. They noted that stability had returned to Turkey after last month's coup attempt.
