Mufti of Jordan: Issues that provoke sedition should not be raised

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The General Mufti of Jordan Sheikh Abdul Karim Khasawneh said that all fataws (religious edicts) should be issued by the General Iftaa Department as it is the only official department that is concerned with this issue.

The mufti told Jordan News Agency that no religious edicts should be issued on matters that harm the unity of Jordanians or co-existence in the country; especially those that incite sedition among the people.

On the issue of condoling non Muslims, Khasawneh said that the Sunnah allowed condoling non Muslims as well as accepting condolences from them.

Sunnah is the verbally transmitted record of the teachings, deeds and sayings, silent permissions (or disapprovals) of Prophet Muhammad Peace be Upon Him, as well as various reports about the prophet’s companions.

The General mufti highlighted the need to avoid issues that affect the unity of Jordanians as well as co-existence that translates the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II in the Amman Message.
