Jordan Olympic Committee launches initiatives for sport to play vital role in lives of all Jordanians

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - (SFC) The brand new website for the Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) has been launched to increase connectivity with its 32 National Federations and help sport play a role in all the lives of Jordanians.

The website will include a dedication National Federations section, exclusive interviews with Jordan's athletes, calendar of major sporting events to be held in Jordan, and a daily sports media service.

The site has also teamed up with the Official Clothing Partner, PEAK who will offer a lucky sports fan the chance, every month, to win exclusive Team Jordan merchandise through their "Become a FANatic' campaign.

"The aim of the site is to become the most trustworthy source of local sports news and information. It will also heavily promote active, healthy lifestyles and ensure sports participation is easily accessible for all men, women and children," stated JOC Secretary General, Lana Al Jaghbeer.

She added, "The new website tools will bring greater interaction between the JOC and our National Federations, enabling us to reach new audiences and engage with more young people in Jordan than ever before."

Throughout the Holy Month, the leading athletes of Jordan have teamed up with the JOC to launch a campaign of Ramadan health tips.

Also for the first day of Ramadan, a social media campaign using images of 30 Jordanian women and sportsmen will be launched. Every day it will deliver a vital health tip to encourage people to take care during their fasting month. All the tips can be accessed through a link on the newly launched www.joc.jo website.

Finally, the JOC and the Royal Health Awareness Society (RHAS) have signed a Memo of Understanding (MOU). Both organizations have pledged to work closely together to improve the well-being and health of people throughout the Kingdown. Under the JOC's communications plan called, Living Sport, Jordan's leading sport organization will work the RHAS to develop and identify areas of mutual co-operation.

Jaghbeer expressed, "Signing this MOU is a clear message that sport must play a role in the general well-being of Jordan."

She said, "We are looking forward to working closely with RHAS to develop and implement real projects that can make a positive impact on the health of our communities."

Director General of RHAS, Enaam Barrishi commented, "Our cooperation with the Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) compliments our efforts in raising the awareness of Jordanians on the importance of physical activity. We will together new opportunities and work on conducting multiple activities which aim to encourage Jordanians to integrate physical activity within their daily lives, and hopefully decrease incidence of chronic diseases in Jordan in the long run."

The RHAS and JOC have already been working together in creating an innovative project to target six to nine-year-olds throughout the Kingdom. This project is still under development, it's expected to be launched sometime in the month of September.
