Japanese government finances project in Azraq Camp

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Syrian Refugees Affairs Department received 31 vehicles that were purchased through a project financed by the Japanese government to improve the safety and security of Syrian refugees at the Azraq Camp.

A press release issued by the Japanese Embassy in Amman Tuesday said that the Japanese government had financed the project, which was implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services.

It added that a ceremony was held at the camp to deliver the vehicles in the presence of Director of the Syrian Refugees Affairs Department Wadah Hmoud, Security Director at Azraq Camp Colonel Atef Omoush, Japanese Ambassador to Jordan Shuichi Sakurai as well as the representative of the United Nations Office for Project Services, Bana Kaloti.

The Japanese government allocated $1.5 million for this project to enhance the capabilities of the Syrian Refugees Affairs Department.

The Japanese ambassador voiced the hope that these vehicles would contribute to preserving the security and safety of the Syrian refugees as well as the workers at the Azraq Camp.
