Jordan, Turkey stress counter-terrorism cooperation

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu underlined the need to deepen bilateral cooperation to combat terrorism and terrorist organizations, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

At a meeting in Amman, the two sides discussed the developments in Iraq and Syria, where they said it was important to stand up against terrorism.

The two foreign ministers said Jordan and Turkey are the two only countries that have borders with Iraq and Syria at the same time.

They also underscored the need for continued coordination amidst developments in Iraq and Syria, which threaten the safety and peace in the region.

On Syria, Jordan said the country's turmoil has to be resolved through political solution in order to preserve the country's unity.

The talks also covered the Palestinian issue, where the two sides urged intensified efforts to resume peace talks and push the peace process forward.
