Jordan arrests 4 men for the tragic murder of Lebanese radio personality Mazen Diab

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordanian authorities said Saturday that they had arrested four people who confessed to beating and killing Lebanese media personality Mazen Diab in his Amman home over personal issues.

In a statement, Jordan's General Security said the coronary’s report indicated that the cause of Diab’s death was an internal bleeding after the victim was hit with a sharp object.

Preliminary investigation said the body of Diab, 31, was found tied with rope marks around his neck his apartment on Friday.

On that night, a friend of Diab failed to reach him over the phone, prompting him to go to Diab's house and knock the door down to find him dead with several stab wounds.

The investigative committee that was formed to probe the murder listened to the testimonies of neighbors and friends of Diab and collected information on the victim to reveal the circumstances behind the incident.

The committee immediately ruled out theft as the motive behind the killing. Three of Diab's cellphones and his laptop were on his desk.

"In less than 24 hours, we limited the list of suspects to four people who confessed to carrying out the crime for personal reasons," the security agency said.

One of the four suspects had met Diab during an episode of his but the relationship was marked with problems. As a result, he asked three of his friends to help him kill Diab.

The statement said the four went to Diab's house, tied him up, beat him, deleted information from his personal cellphone and took several things that were in his possession to hide evidence

Diab hosted a on the Jordanian radio station and was a lung cancer survivor.

Diab made his mark in 2002 during a once-popular talent on LBCI '"Studio al-Fan" in the category of hosting programs. He graduated from the Beirut Arab University before working for several stations and magazines in Beirut. He also hosted a number of events in Dubai.

In 2008, Diab was awarded Best Lebanese Media Personality by Jaras Channel. Diab also used his struggle with cancer to raise awareness about the need for people to undergo screening as a part of the campaign "It is my turn: Never say it is too early ... cancer has no time."
