Foreign minister, Norwegian counterpart discuss ties, regional developments

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh discussed on Thursday with his Norwegian counterpart Borg Brende, bilateral ties, the situation in the Palestinian lands, mainly in Gaza, as well as developments in Syria and Iraq.

Judeh voiced Jordan's condemnation of the continued Israeli aggression against Gaza which has claimed the lives of more than 200 Palestinians so far, and left more than 1,500 others injured.

He stressed Jordan's stance which calls for respecting the international law and stopping all operations targeted against innocent Palestinians.

The minister said that His Majesty King Abdullah II issued directives to beef up support for the Jordanian military field hospital in Gaza and sent urgent medical aid to Gaza, noting that the King is making intensive contacts with leaders from the region and the world to bring about a ceasefire in Gaza.

The two ministers also discussed the current situation in Syria and the burden being shouldered by Jordan as a result of hosting a large number of Syrian refugees and extending various services to them.

Judeh also discussed with Brende the current situation in Iraq and called for solving the crisis through a political process with the participation of all sections of the Iraqi society.

The Norwegian minister voiced appreciation for Jordan's role under His Majesty's leadership to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East.

He also thanked Jordan for hosting Syrian refugees and, before that, Iraqis and providing them with services, adding that his country is aware of the challenges Jordan has been facing in this regard.
