PM: Gov't will not allow attacks on investors

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Hani Al Mulki said the Jordanian state will not allow outlaws to attack anyone on Jordanian soil and pledges that anyone who breaks the law will not escape punishment.

During a meeting at the Prime Ministry on Thursday with 40 investors and representatives of the chambers of industry and investors' associations, Al Mulki said that the government and the concerned agencies will not allow acts of bullying, blackmailing and theft by a group of outlaws, and will apply the law to all indiscriminately and without any hesitation.

Al-Mulki said the government is serious about this issue and is not reacting to a specific incident. He said there will be deterrent measures in the coming days and "we will apply the law on bullying practiced by some in the assault on investments".

The prime minister called on investors to report any cases of blackmail they are subjected to, so that the concerned authorities can verify the complaint and take the necessary measures to ensure that it does not recur.

During the emeting, which was attended by Interior Minister Ghaleb Al-Zu'bi, Labour Minister Ali Ghezawi and State Minister for Investment Affairs Muhannad Shehadeh, the premier stressed the government's keenness to provide an appropriate and safe environment for investments that contribute to economic development, especially in governorates, and job opportunities for Jordanians.
