Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Members of the Jordanian-Iraqi Joint Business Council stressed the need to overcome difficulties and enhance the two-way trade exchange between the two countries.

During a meeting held Tuesday at the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC), the members highlighted the importance of holding business expos in both countries and organizing an annual Jordanian-Iraqi investment forum, in addition to granting entry to Jordanian companies to invest in hospital projects under construction in Iraq, and grant their management to Jordanian cadres to achieve the interests of both countries.

They underlined the necessity of holding partnerships for projects in vital sectors, by enhancing the role of the council in introducing opportunities and investment possibilities available in the two countries, exchanging information on laws, trade movement, industrial production and export as well as exchanging publications and periodicals.

They also emphasized to the need for Jordanian companies to enter into housing projects within a joint mechanism that achieves the two parties' objectives and allow Jordanian companies to work within the logistics area on the Jordanian-Iraqi border, as well as establishing joint land ports to facilitate the flow of goods, in addition to enhancing joint cooperation, through increasing the recruitment of Jordanian cadres and benefiting from Iraqi expertise.

During the meeting, the council agreed to establish a joint coordination office in Jordan and Iraq, under the umbrella of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce (FICC) to coordinate the work of the joint council and establish an arbitration committee and follow the necessary legal procedures.

The council discussed several economic issues of common interest, as well as the obstacles facing the commercial sectors and finding solutions to them.

The Jordanian exports to Iraq reached $466 million last year compared to $3 million in imports.
