No Speech by King, No Statements by Govt

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Reports were exchanged on social networking sites that King Abdullah II will give a speech to the nation tonight on Jordan TV to address the conditions in the country as a result of the government's decision to lift subsidies on fuel derivatives.

Ammon News learned that the reports are baseless, and that no speech by King Abdullah is being prepared for broadcast.

Meanwhile, no official statements have been issued by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour's government addressing the violent riots and protests erupting throughout the country.

Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications Samih Maaytah had travelled to Bahrain on a visit to attend a cultural meeting on Tuesday and took part in the conference of Arab culture ministers being held in Manama.
