Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Youth and Popular Coalition for Reform and opposition parties announced that they will organize a rally next Friday against the presence of U.S and foreign troops in Jordan, a statement posted at the coalition Facebook page stated on Tuesday.
Under the banner “Toppling Wadi Araba Treaty and Foreign Dependency, " the protest will be held after Friday midday prayer in Al Hussaini Mosque toward Al Nakhil Square in downtown Amman.
The march comes in conjunction with the 18th anniversary of the 1994 Wadi Araba Peace Treaty with Israel.
The Coalition also criticized security treatment of pro-reform activists detained in prison, and called for the release of all 'political detainees,' according to their expression.
Western media outlets reported lately that the U.S. military sent special forces to Jordan in part of an American plan to prevent Assad from using chemical and biological weapons against the uprising there, and to prevent the weapons from falling into the hands of terrorists, and prepare for any potential regional spillover of the crisis.
The media reports were also substantiated by British media reports of the presence of British forces in the kingdom, noting that these forces are carrying out regular training missions with Jordanian forces near the Jordanian-Syrian border.
Friday's protest will also call on the government to halt any price hikes in its plans, and to refuse IMF conditions.
