Ammon News - AMMONNEWS (Exclusive) - The Global Organization of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB), headquartered in Cairo, decided to recommend dissolving the executive office of the Jordan Muslim Brotherhood for the purpose of restructuring it, following reported complaints by 'moderates' within the movement of suspected internal graft and exploitation.
The decision, taken by the Office of the General Guide (Al Murshid Al 'Am) of the Global Muslim Brotherhood, reportedly aims to restructure the executive bureau in favor of more moderate members, who on their part had pleaded to the Global Organization to interfere as a result of internal divisions with the hardliners' camp (hawks) who hold the top leadership positions in Jordan's MB movement.
In statements to Ammon News, sources within the Muslim Brotherhood, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, accused the 'hardliners' camp of exploiting 'political funds' to secure the leadership positions within the movement in the latest round of structuring.
The 'exploitation' charge came as a result of a recent secret internal probe reached by an investigation committee formed with the knowledge of the Global Organization, the source added.
The decision to restructure the executive bureau took Jordan's MB overall leader Hammam Saeed by surprise, evoking him to head a delegation to Cairo on Tuesday to meet with the Global Organization and office of the General Guide there to discuss the recent decision.
Sources from the hardliners' camp dismissed claims that Saeed's visit to Egypt is related to the decision to dissolve the Jordan bureau, stressing instead that the Islamist delegation's visit comes in the context of mediating with the Egyptian administration resupplying Jordan with natural gas.
News of Tuesday's visit to Cairo were revealed Monday evening, a day after Jordan's Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh called on the Jordanian Islamists to intervene and mediate with the Egyptian administration considering their 'close ties.'
MB deputy comptroller Zaki bani Ersheid confirmed in statements to Ammon News Monday evening that the delegation headed by Saeed will mediate the natural gas crisis, confirming that he was in contact with FM Judeh following the ministers statements on a local TV program on Sunday.
Islamist leaders on Tuesday denied claims that the Global Organization recommended dissolving the Exec Bureau, citing that the decision can only be made through the Shura (Consultation) Council of the Brotherhood, adding that such media leaks are part of a provocation campaign against the movement for its attempt to play a positive role in mediating the natural gas crisis.
