FM, EU delegation discuss preparations for Jordan's parliamentary elections

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS-Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh on Wednesday discussed with an EU delegation, preparations to dispatch an EU monitoring mission to observe the various phases of the electoral process.

Judeh said an invitation to the EU mission to observe the upcoming parliamentary elections in Jordan, reflects keenness of His Majesty King Abdullah II to ensure free and transparent elections and enhance the concepts of democracy and political reform led by the King.

The minister highlighted measures taken by the government to facilitate and encourage citizens to register for the elections to ensure successful polls.

The government, he said, is ready to provide all support to the EU team to facilitate its mission in monitoring the polls.

Judeh also voiced Jordan's appreciation of the EU's support to the Kingdom's reform process.

Head of the delegation hailed preparations taken by the Independent Elections Commission, IEC to facilitate the elections process and affirmed the EU's support to the commission and to Jordan's reform process.

The delegation, which comprises experts in the field of electoral systems, is currently visiting the Kingdom upon an invitation from the IEC.
